Dan Hohmann's Excellent Adventures in Munich

We arrive in Munich at 1:12 AM after a long train ride from Berlin, then we took a bus to our hotel. Because of the late night we got to sleep until 8 AM.

We went to Dachau Concentration Camp, it was really sad what had happened there. We went into the bunker where celebrity prisoners were kept. Then we went to the cremation building. I found out it had a gas chamber but it was never used. When I entered the crematorium I felt a weird presence in there. It was very sad because after they burned the bodies they just scattered the ashes outside of the building. No one was given a proper burial until the Americans liberated the camp. There were 3 Canadian, 2 Americans and 1 Japanese people held there.

Then we went to the Olympic Plaza which was home to Bayern Munich soccer team. While we were visiting there, there was a soccer game which is called 'football' in Europe. It was Byron Munich vs Hanover and Bayern Munich won 2-0!

Then we headed to the BMW museum where there was a car that my Grandfather drove and owned the company of, it was called Hohmann Auto Works.

Then we headed to the beerhause, and while we were heading over there because Bayern Munich had just won! At the beer hall, we found out that Adolphe Hitler had spoken publicly about other political parties and people he didn't consider great German citizens. We learned that there were 42 attempted assassinations of Adolphe Hitler.

We arrived at the beerhause and the meal was really amazing! I didnt sleep the night before, so I fell asleep after the dinner!

Overall my time in Munich was very exciting and I will return in a couple years, maybe in Grade 12 Mom and Dad?

  1. Well, son (Dan) in response to your request to go back next year how about we go back in 2016. It will be the 500th anniversary of the "Bavarian Beer Purity Law" celebrated at OctoberFest. You will be old enough to drink a few pints with your dad, perhaps even pay for a couple of rounds from the money you will be making from your full time job! Have a safe and fun trip and we are all enjoying the blogs, so keep them coming.
